IN THE POWER Hyatt Regency Bali’s Board of Directors Includes Three Female Members A diverse team brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise.  As a global leader in hospitality, Hyatt has long built a culture where everyone is embraced and valued for who they are.  In 2020, Hyatt hotels were listed for the 7th  consecutive year in Fortune magazine’s Best Workplaces. In celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March, we’d like to introduce you to our there are three female Directors, making us one of the few hotels on the island to have female executives.
Our Director of Rooms Yessy Oktaviana started her hospitality journey 13 years ago at the reception at Hard Rock Hotel, Kuta.  After four years she joined the pre-opening team of W Seminyak in the front office department and worked her way up to Director of Rooms in 2017.  A native of Bali, Mrs. Yessy is proud to lead a team of 235 hardworking, passionate members at Hyatt Regency Bali.  “It is an honor to join a hotel with a rich history and influence like Hyatt Regency Bali.  Our guests are a mix of loyal Bali Hyatt guests and new demographics, discovering our hotel and Sanur for the first time.  It has been a rewarding journey for me and my team to be part of this.”
While Mrs. Yessy is a new addition to the Hyatt family, our Director of Human Resources and Executive Chef have been with Hyatt for a long time.  Mrs. Ira Puspitasari joined Grand Hyatt Bali in 2008 as Director of HR after working for the Karma Group, Melia and Discovery Kartika Plaza hotel.  Often dubbed the “mother” of the hotel, Mrs. Puspitasari took on the Cluster Director of HR role last year where she is responsible for both Hyatt hotels in Bali.  Born in Yogyakarta and educated in Austria, Mrs. Puspitasari and her team are responsible for close to 1,300 associates from Grand Hyatt Bali and Hyatt Regency Bali.  “This role is not for the faint-hearted.  Many assume that the role of HR is only in hiring and firing, but there is more to it.  I enjoy seeing our talents grow and mentoring the young generation of hoteliers,” mentioned the mother of three.  An avid collector of batik and Indonesian crafts, Mrs. Puspitasari believes in approaching each associate like a family member.  “Despite having so many associates, I always feel like we are a family.”

In line with the topic of family, Executive Chef Nadine Waechter-Moreno considers her family to be one of the main reasons behind her move to Bali.  “I would love my daughter to experience the different cultures of the world, and Bali with its friendly and international environment is an ideal choice,” mentioned Chef Nadine.  Hailing from Lucerne, Switzerland, Chef Nadine has enjoyed a string of international postings at Hyatt starting with Park Hyatt Tokyo where she was appointed Executive Chef.  She then moved to Mexico where she helped open Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen. Fluent in English, German, Spanish and French, Chef Nadine enjoys the flavors and warm culture of Asia and on a constant quest to discover Bali’s dining scene.
Chef Nadine is responsible for the hotel’s restaurants Pizzaria and Omang Omang as well as Regency Club Lounge and banquet kitchen.  “I have been extremely lucky to work with the talented team here and to work with the world-class ingredients found on the island.”  A true foodie at heart, Chef Nadine strives to highlight local ingredients as she believes they deserve wider recognition.
The female pact in the leadership committee is only a handful of powerful women holding key roles in the hotel. From the Director of Sales position, Reservations, Housekeeping, to F&B, our associates prove that gender is not and should not be an obstacle to be reach your goals.
